I meet many interesting people in my line of work. Some are kind and sweet and others are rude and bitter. I can read people well and have figured out ways of getting positive interactions. People tell me about themselves, with funny stories and gross facts. It's no wonder that I want to try writing stories.
I met a kind old man today. He was shopping alone and was leaning on the cart a bit. We chatted a little about the weather. He was nice and had a gentle smile.
"You know I haven't been in the store for five years." he said.
"Really, why so long?"
"I had a stroke," he said, still smiling, "see this side is kinda slow."
"Wow, you look good though," I said. I wasn't really sure what else to say.
"Thanks, it's good being out and about again."
"Well, keep it up, and have a good day."
Life is hard and bad things happen to good people. We can't choose what happens to us but we can choose how we respond. No matter what happens, let us try and find joy, even in simple things.

That is cool that people want to talk to you and open up! You must have a friendly face!
That old man was telling you about his stroke! Aww! He was probably lonely and needed a friend.
